ABIA WORKERS LOCKED OUT OF MAY DAY VENUE

Workers in Abia State did not join their counterparts in the country to celebrate May Day.
Radio Nigeria reports that the workers who troopout in their numbers could not gain entrance into the venue of the event, Ibeku High School Umuahia as they were locked out of the premises.
Efforts made by the organized labour for the opening of the venue was not successful.
Speaking with journalists, some of the workers expressed concern about the incident, describing it as very unfortunate.
Addressing the workers in front of gate of the school, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Eze Idima, said the organized labour would not relent in its efforts towards ensuring that workers celebrated the day and appeal to state goverment to do the needful by offsetting the arrears of salaries owed some workers in the state.
In his contribution, the chairman Trade Union Congress Abia State, Comrade Sunny Onwuma, also called on goverment to ensure that the welfares of workers in the state were given paramount attention it deserved.
