ABIA STATE LG HEALTH AUTHORITIES APPROPRIATION BILL 2019 SCALES THROUGH 2ND READING

The Local Government Health Authorities Appropriation Bill of Abia State 2019 has passed through second reading.

Leading the debate during plenary, the Leader of the house and sponsor of the bill, Mr. Solomon Akpulonu explained that the bill was aimed at empowering the agency with fund for efficient service delivery to the people of the State.

He noted that the bill when passed into law would strengthen the performance of primary healthcare system and called on members to give the bill accelerated support and passage.

In their separate contributions, the member representing Obingwa West, Mr. Thomas Nkoro, member representing Ukwa West, Chief Godwin Adiele and his Ukwa East counterpart, Chief Paul Taribo supported the bill, noting that its benefits to Abia residents would be enormous.

The speaker, Chief Chinedum Orji committed the bill to the House Committee on Appropriation for further legislative action and report back to the house in three weeks.
