ABIA STATE GOVT SET PANEL TO UPGRADE SCHOOL OF NURSING AMACHARA

Abia State Government says a panel of experts has been instituted to oversee the upgrade of the School of Nursing Amachara to a College of Nursing Sciences.

The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, announced this while briefing newsmen after this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

Prince Kanu said the upgrade would enhance the state’s healthcare sector and training of high-grade nurses in the state.

The Commissioner, also announced September 16, 2024, as resumption date of schools in the state.

He said security personnel had been deployed to educational institutions across the state to ensure the safety of students and teachers in their respective learning environment.

The Commissioner explained that the State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) under its school Enhancement Team Programme, had screened and interviewed 200 teachers with 40 of the teachers shortlisted for a special training preparatory for the resumption of schools later in the month.

Contributing, the Chairman ASUBEB, Ms. Lydia Onuoha, said the Board had put in place measures to enhance state’s educational system under the ongoing Abia First Education Reform programme.

According to Ms. Onuoha, 200 of the 2000 Master Trainers had concluded their training for the forthcoming Master Trainers programme in the state and noted that participants were selected from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
