The Abia State Government says it will collaborate with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in creating awareness on the need for Nigerians to continue to observe COVID-19 protocol.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu, stated this during a campaign on building a people of peace: working together to overcome COVID-19.

He commended NOA for carrying the campaign to the communities, describing it as very timely.

Chief Ikwuagwu urged Nigerians to continue to observe all the necessary COVID-19 protocol as the virus was yet to be overcome.

The Director, NOA in Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu, noted that the campaign, which was inaugurated by the Director General of the agency, Dr. Garba Abari, was aimed at creating awareness by deploying War Against Indiscipline brigade volunteers for persuasive enforcement of facemask wearing and physical distancing by the citizens.

She called on the state government to recognize and work out modalities of engaging the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) Brigade, noting it was the only voluntary organization and brain child of the Federal Government.

Highlight of the event was the inauguration of WAI Brigade by the Commissioner.
