
ABIA STATE GOVT CORRECTS ANOMALIES IN NEW MINIMUM WAGE

Abia State Government and the organized labour in the state have signed agreement and effected corrections on anomalies observed on the consequential adjustment of the new minimum wage implemented for civil servants.
Signing the agreement at the Government House Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said the welfare of workers remained the priority of the state government.
Governor Otti advised Abia workers to reciprocate government action by rendering efficient service.
He thanked them for showing great commitment towards ensuring the actualization of set goals of new Abia despite the period of the negotiations.
Responding on behalf of the organized labour, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Ogbonnaya Okoro, commended the Government for signing the adjusted agreement and expressed commitment of workers to discharge their duties diligently.
He expressed the hope that the consequential adjustments, which cuts across all levels (from one to 17), will take effect from February 2025.
