ABIA STATE GOVT BEGINS FREE BREAST CANCER TREATMENT

Abia State Government has commenced the testing and treatment of breast cancer for women in the state.

The Executive Secretary Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chinagozie Adindu, made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia.

Dr. Adindu noted that the exercise would be carried out in the two hundred and ninety-two (292) political wards in the state.

The Executive Secretary stated the program was being organized by the office of the wife of the Governor in collaboration with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency and a nongovernmental organization, Vicar Hope Foundation.

He called on women in the state to avail themselves of the opportunity by coming out for the testing, pointing out that early detection was the best solution in the treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Adindu noted that the examination and treatment of breast cancer was free of charge.
