ABIA NASS TRIBUNAL: APC’S ONYEJOCHA CLOSES CASE
REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU
Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejocha of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APC) has closed her case in the Election Petitions Tribunal Panel 1 sitting in Abia State after calling only two witnesses.
Mrs. Onyejocha, the immediate past member that represented Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is challenging the emergence of Mr. Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party (LP) who was declared winner in the February 25 national assembly polls for the area.
While the first witness, an INEC official, only tendered some documents and was not cross examined, the second witness, Mr. Emeka Okoroafor, who served as her constituency collation agent during the polls, was cross examined.
Responding to questions from the respondent’s counsel, Mr. Okoroafor said while he was at the constituency collation centre, he received calls from polling unit agents who complained of computational errors, adding that he was yet to get a written report from the agents.
The first respondent, INEC, decided not to call any witness and closed their own case.
The Chairman of the panel, Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe, adjourned the matter until Friday July 21 and directed the second respondent, the Labour Party, to get their witnesses ready and ensure they opened and also closed their case.
