ABIA GUBER TRIBUNAL: PDP TO OPEN CASE JULY 26

REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidate in the 2023 Governorship election in Abia State, Chief Okey Ahaiwe, will open their case at the election petitions tribunal on the 26th of this month.

This followed the presentation of the Pre-hearing conference report by the Chairman of the panel, Justice H.T.D Gwadah.

Justice Gwadah said all parties had been allowed fifteen minutes for cross examination of their star witnesses, ten minutes for other witnesses and five minutes for re-examination.

She noted that all public documents that needed to be tendered should be done from the bar while all objections must be contained in the final written addresses of the parties objecting.

The chairman further directed parties to file a list of the witnesses that would be testifying and the number of their depositions on the petition at least 24 hours before the day of hearing.

She warned that the panel would not hesitate to abridge the time of any party if proceedings were not being conducted speedily.

PDP and Chief Ahaiwe are challenging the outcome of the Governorship election and the respondents in the matter are INEC, Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party.
