ABIA @ 32: OTTI PLEGDES TO MAINTAIN PRUDENCE, ACCOUNTABILITY & DREAMS OF FOUNDING FATHERS

Abia State Government says it has set up a dedicated office to coordinate and interface with the global and regional institutions to enable it make intervention funding opportunities for critical projects in the state.

Governor Alex Otti, who stated this in a broadcast to mark the 32nd anniversary of the state creation, said the government was working on raft of reforms that would streamline procurement processes in the public sector to cut out abuses.

The Governor noted that in line with his campaign promise, the attorney General’s office would soon conclude with the draft of major reforms initiatives designed to strengthen institutions and enhance their capacities to meet the development agenda of the present administration.

He pledged to remain prudent in the management of the resources of the state and assured that accountability and responsibility would remain central as the resources would be for infrastructural development of the state.

Governor Otti, who reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to prompt and regular payment of salaries, urged workers across state to be diligent in their duties and support the reform initiatives and programmes of the state government.

He called on the people of the state to join the fight against crime as security is everyones business, maintaining that there would not be a secured Abia if the state was not in one accord.

Governor Otti said leaders owed the next generation in the state the duty of maintaining the dreams of the founding fathers who fought for the creation of Abia State in the confidence that its potential for greatness would be best actualized by becoming a distinct entity.
