2023 CENSUS: NPC TRAINS LG ADHOC RECRUITMENT REVIEW TEAM IN ANAMBRA STATE.

The National Population Commission (NPC) has commenced the training of its State and Local Government Recruitment Review Teams in Anambra State for the 2023 Census.

Addressing the participants during the two day workshop in Awka, the Federal Commissioner Representing Anambra State in the Commission, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, charged them to be committed to carrying their duties transparently.

The sixty-six personnel undergoing the training are made up of the 21 Local Government Areas Comptrollers of the commission, Desk Officers, one official representing each council and three persons from its Anambra State Headquarters.

At the end of the training, the personnel are expected to review all applications for the Census Adhoc jobs, with a view to ascertaining their suitability for the work.

Mr. Ezeoke, who emphasized the importance of the work of the Recruitment Review Team, stressed that the conduct of accurate and reliable census depended on the quality of manpower that would carry out the task.

Mr. Ezeoke noted that a transparent recruitment would impact positively on the census outcome.

He announced that the Local Government Staff engaged in the Review Team, were critically selected to add value to the exercise.

The Anambra State Director of the NPC, Dr. Joachim Ulasi, said that centres would be established in all the Local Government Areas to enhance the work of the Review Team.

Two of the participants, a Comptroller in the NPC, Mr. Benjamin Emengini, and a Desk Officer, Mrs. Onyinyechi Okereke, pledged to approach the review work transparently.

The Census Recruitment Review Team would undertake the screening of adhoc applicants for about sixty days after their training.
