100 PRIVATE SCHOOLS CLOSED DOWN IN ENUGU STATE

The Enugu State Government says it has closed down one hundred private schools and established Education Court as a measure of strengthening quality and standard of education in the State.

The Commissioner for Education in the State, Professor Uche Eze stated during an interaction with journalists in Enugu.

Professor Eze explained that government was putting all necessary frame work to address challenges affecting standard of education and appealed to operators of private school to provide the basic requirements before embarking on such establishment.

He noted that the ministry was ready to partner private sector in that regard, noting that the ministry would not compromise standard.

The Commissioner announced that the ministry was prosecuting eleven schools at its education court for violating education policy.

On the other hand, Professor Eze warned principals of government school from collecting illegal levy.

He noted that the government would not hesitate to prosecute any member of its staff found violating rules and regulation.

Professor Eze also blamed parents for aiding and abating examination malpractices and other prohibited conducts.

The Commissioner assured the people that the issue of miracle centres and other forms of sharp practice would be a thing of the past.
