WORLD BANK TO INVEST ₦1.5BN IN DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN ENUGU STATE

Gov. UgwuanyiThe World Bank is to embark on a development project worth ₦1.5 billion (one point five billion naira) in the Seventeen Local Government Areas of Enugu State.

The state commissioner for Information, Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of the executive council meeting at the government house.

He said that the state government would pay a one hundred million naira counterpart fund to assess the facility which would be in phases.

According to the information commissioner, the project would commence in communities selected from the identified seven local government areas in dire need of the interventions.

Mr. Anikwe further expressed the commitment of the state government in the encouraging students who performed excellently in school.

He noted that Miss Cynthia Chinecherem Ali was offered scholarship up to first degree in any Nigerian University by the state government for emerging best student in her school.

Miss Chinecherem Ani is an eighteen-year-old indigene of Enugu State and hails from Umuagama, Enugu- Ezike in Igboeze North Local Government Area, and has applied to study Medicine and Surgery in the University of Nigeria.
