NDE COMMENCES TRAINING TO EMPOWER 50 YOUTHS IN ANAMBRA STATE

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has commenced the training of fifty unemployed youths on sustainable agricultural ventures in Anambra State.

The Director General of NDE, Mr Nasiru Mohammed said the programme was designed for the rural populace to gain employment and enhance their rural income via agricultural production.
He stated this during the inauguration of Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Represented by Mr. Pascal Ede, Mr Mohammed noted that the programme was also to promote training on non-farm rural employment activities, stimulate rural economy and reduce rural- urban drift.

He urged the Participants to be serious with the training, noting that the skills that would be acquired would enable them to be self reliant.

In a speech, the Co-ordinator of the Directorate in the State, Mrs Chika Ufelle said the training organised by Rural Employment Promotion, REP Department was for selected school leavers and graduates of Tertiary institutions.

Mrs Ufelle who announced that the training would be held in the thirty six States and the Federal Capital Territory, emphasized that the concept was to expose the youths to more profitable ventures.

She pointed out that the fifty beneficiaries for the training were drawn from the three senatorial zones in the State and would be trained for three months.

According to her, two weeks out of the three months will be for tutorial, while the rest is for adaptive experiential farm with livestock and crop production training unit.

Mrs Nweze pleaded with the Federal Government to assist the participants with starting capital after the training to enable them to thrive in their different fields of agricultural development.

One of the participants, Mrs Ego Nweze commended the Directorate for its efforts in reducing the rate of unemployment in the State.
