INSTITUTIONS IN ENUGU TOLD TO REMIT THEIR TAXES TO THE STATE COFFERS OR FACE SANCTION

The Enugu state Board of Internal Revenue says various institutions and organizations in the state are owing the government about six point six billion Naira.

The Chairman of the Board, Mr. Emeka Odo announced this after an enforcement exercise in the state to seal off establishments of some tax defaulters by court order.

He urged other institutions and organizations still owing the state government to ensure they remitted their taxes to the state coffers.

Mr. Odo expressed regrets that people did not take tax payment seriously.

According to him, the ongoing operation will affect most Federal Agencies in the state.

Meanwhile, the owner of one of the hotels sealed off who did not want his name mentioned, claimed he was not owing the government.

The exercise was the first phase.
