GOVERNMENT AT ALL LEVELS AND GOOD-SPIRITED INDIVIDUALS ARE CALLED TO ASSIST THE LESS PRIVILEGED IN THE SOCIETY
The Executive Director, Development Education Centre, DEC, Dr. Cecilia Asogwa made the call during the thirty-fourth annual convention of the centre in Enugu.
According to Dr. Asogwa, the aim of the centre was to empower women and youths at the grassroots to become self-employed.
Earlier in a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. EmekaOdo commended DEC for the good work and encouraged the centre to continue helping the less privileged.
Speaking on the theme “Investing in Women and youths , A panacea for Sustainable Development”, the Chief Magistrate Enugu State Judiciary, Mrs. Nkechi Alukwu who represented the wife of the Enugu State Governor pointed out that empowering a woman, sustains the nation’s development .
Correspondent SchorlasticaUgwuoke reports that scholarship award were given to fifty drop-out school girls and fifty indigent students for WAEC and NECO fees.

Highlights of the event was presentation of certificates to sixty graduates of 2016/2017 DEC Skills and Drug kits to trained community health workers.
