ENUGU LAWMAKERS TO REVIEW LEVIES CHARGED BY THE STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY

The Enugu State House of Assembly has taken steps to review levies charged by the State Waste Management Agency, ESWAMA, as a measure of increasing internally-generated revenue and litigation associated with the original law.

This followed a presentation and adoption of Ad-hoc Committee report that reviewed various fees charged by the agency.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Obinna Okenwa explained that all the interest groups were consulted, noting that the report if implemented would make the system more effective.

Meanwhile, a bill to amend the law establishing the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT has passed its first reading on the floor of the house.

A bill to amend the retirement age of staff of Polytechnic and Colleges of Education in the State was stepped down for further consultation.
