ABAKALIKI RICE MILL REOPENS AFTER SANITIZING IT OF POISONOUS RICE
Ebonyi State Government has reopened Abakaliki Rice Mill days after sanitizing it of poisonous and adulterated rice products discovered in the area. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of the State on Internal Security, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala announced this while briefing newsmen on preliminary investigations carried out on the matter in Abakaliki. Dr Ugbala explained that some bags of the suspected poisonous rice were discovered in shops belonging to the leadership of Rice Mill Dealers Association in the area He noted that as a result, leaders of the Rice Mill had been suspended indefinitely. Our Correspondent reports that a sample of the alleged poisonous rice had been sent to the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC for laboratory test.
