₦1.5B RELEASED FOR PAYMENT OF ARREARS OF PENSIONS AND GRATUITIES IN EBONYI

Ebonyi State Government has released One point five billion naira for the payment of arrears of Pensions and Gratuities to the State Civil Servants and Local Government workers who retired from 1996 to 2017.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe explains that approval for the release was given at the State Executive Council meeting held in Abakaliki.

It states that this followed conclusion on the verification of the State Pensions and Gratuities from1996 to 2017 as well as the consideration of its outcome by the State Executive Council.

According to the statement, the Council also expanded the State Economic Empowerment Programme for widows to accommodate additional two thousand who will be given two hundred thousand naira each to start any business of their choice.

Two thousand widows were already participating in the economic empowerment programme.
